Sterling

Following a proper New Orleans high school experience, replete with intensive drum corps study (while sidelining in New Wave bands), Sterling spent 6 years in the mid 90’s drumming alongside Curry with the not-so-solo James Hall.

Mostly an underground phenomenon in the U.S., the band achieved some success overseas, dazzling at large Euro festivals with angst filled precision.

In 2000, Sterling entered a period of self-imposed musical sequester due to mental health issues. In private life, his taut work ethic led him to excellence as a sommelier and wine purveyor.

Quietly continuing with musical exploration on piano and drums, he emerged in 2020, shining more brilliantly than ever, to join Flood Twin, carrying with him his many influences and a freshly chiseled expertise.  His tight, nothing-but-the-pocket approach is delivered with only kick, snare and hi-hat and hints equally at post-punk, industrial dance and R & B.

Sterling, as a brush wielding artist, occasionally uses a sampler pad for shading, beautifully executed on “Downtown Zeroes.” Try “Silence” for dirty, metronomic thump meets emotion-laden propulsion.
